Travel
The consequences of an accident whilst in France or while travelling can be even further aggravated if you do not have travel insurance. Travel insurance covers things like repatriation, treatment at a French hospital, a return train or plane ticket, reimbursement of medical expenses incurred outside France and compensation for loss of personal property.
Medical
It is also obligatory for all nationals of the EU to now obtain a European Insurance card; this will reimburse 70% of medical costs incurred.
For Non-EU students, a photocopy of a certificate of insurance covering accidents, hospitalisation is obligatory before arrival in France and also needed to obtain a residence permit.
If a student does not have private insurance then he/she must subscribe to the French Social Security Health System which costs approx 186 €.
